Position Summary:
The Accounts Manager will oversee daily accounting operations, ensure compliance, and manage financial processes, including budgeting, reporting, and relationship management with external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop Accounting Procedures: Prepare and refine accounting procedures and financial manuals.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare budgets, statements, and monthly analytical reports per Group guidelines.
  • Monthly Coordination: Manage and coordinate monthly reporting, budgeting, and reforecasting processes.
  • Statutory Compliance: Ensure compliance with statutory accounting, tax obligations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain relationships with auditors, Uganda Revenue Authority, and Customs.
  • Management Accounting: Create and manage management accounting functions for Watu.
  • Financial Documentation: Prepare financial documents for lenders and investors.
  • Cross-Functional Process Management: Oversee financial processes across various departments.
  • Team Management: Manage and grow the accounting team with respect and integrity.
  • Petty Cash Review: Review Petty Cash vouchers and related documentation from all Watu offices.
  • Month-End Closing: Participate in the month-end Petty Cash closing processes.
  • Additional Tasks: Perform other duties assigned by the Finance department.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounts, Finance, or Business Administration with a major in accounting or finance.
  • Professional Qualifications: Full CPA or ACCA certification.
  • Experience: At least 5–6 years of financial accounting experience.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting concepts, conventions, and standards.
  • Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is a must.
  • Attributes: Self-driven, innovative, able to work under minimal supervision, and maintain a high degree of integrity.
