Position Overview

The U.S. Mission in Uganda is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Cashier (Class B) in the Financial Office at the U.S. Embassy Kampala. The Cashier will manage a range of cashiering duties including collections, disbursements, and more.

Key Duties:

  • Serve as the Principal Class B Cashier, handling collections, disbursements, replenishments, and accommodation exchanges.
  • Manage a total advance as annually approved and enter data into RFMS/C and other software platforms supporting cashier operations.
  • Provide guidance to two alternate Class B Cashiers and six sub-cashiers.
  • Handle large sums of cash and ensure proper identification of counterfeit bills.

Qualifications and Evaluations:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance is required.

Experience:

  • At least two years of progressively responsible experience in voucher examining, accounting, cashiering, or bookkeeping is required.

Job Knowledge:

  • Good working knowledge of collection and disbursing functions in an automated accounting system.
  • Understanding of local banking rules, regulations, and practices.

Language:

  • Level III – Good working knowledge; written and spoken English.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently with a high level of honesty, integrity, and courtesy.
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management.
  • Proficiency in word processing, database management, and spreadsheet applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Capability to handle large sums of cash and identify counterfeit bills.
  • Effective public relations skills for interaction with various stakeholders.

Additional Requirements:

  • All applicants will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
  • Candidate must be able to start within 4 weeks of authorization and/or clearances.
