Position Overview
Steel & Tube is hiring an Assistant Logistics Manager to oversee logistics operations, optimize resource allocation, and ensure efficient movement of goods.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Logistics Planning: Develop and implement technical plans and schedules for all logistics functions.
- Material Management: Direct availability and allocation of materials, supplies, and finished products.
- Team Management: Oversee team activities, set priorities, schedule work, and ensure resource availability.
- Support Activities: Plan and execute logistics support activities including maintenance, repair analysis, and equipment recommendations.
- Optimization: Redesign the movement of goods to maximize value and minimize costs.
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Reporting: Prepare and review periodic reports on project plans, progress, and results.
- Purchasing: Prepare purchase orders, verify accuracy of requisitions, and order materials as needed.
- Supplier Coordination: Contact suppliers to expedite deliveries and resolve issues.
- Inventory Management: Ensure sufficient inventory levels and check shipments for accuracy.
- Billing: Compare bills with invoices and purchase orders, approve logistical bills for payment.
- Compliance: Maintain knowledge of organizational and governmental rules affecting purchases.
- Contract Management: Monitor contractor performance, prepare bid invitations, and manage subcontractor activities.
- Safety: Enforce PPE usage and adhere to safety rules, ensuring good housekeeping and environmental maintenance.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Educational Background: Degree in Economics, Accounting, Commerce; diploma in Procurement (CIPS) is an advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years in logistics management.
- Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Authority:
- Reports to the Operations Manager.
Interfaces:
- Interacts with clearing agents, suppliers, security firms, customers, shop managers, dispatch supervisors, marketing managers, and sales managers.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Responsibilities:
- Ensure cleanliness and enforce PPE usage.
- Provide training on safety and environmental procedures.
- Assist in improving EHS conditions and managing workplace safety.
- Promote teamwork and high personal integrity.
