Job Summary:

The Risk Manager will oversee Yako Bank’s comprehensive risk management program, identifying and assessing risks that could affect the organization’s reputation, safety, security, or financial success.

Reporting To:

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and analyze various risks, including operational, market, credit, and people risks.
  • Develop risk management controls, systems, and contingency plans.
  • Conduct risk assessments for new products and define the potential impact of risks.
  • Evaluate the severity of each risk based on its consequences.
  • Oversee internal queries from branches and external queries from customers, regulators, and correspondent banks regarding AML matters.
  • Audit processes and procedures.
  • Oversee the annual KYC review of high-risk customers and continuously monitor their transactions for authenticity.
  • Conduct annual KYC renewal for all counterparties and correspondent banks.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements through continuous monitoring.
  • Review transactions from money transfer services and prepare corresponding reports.
  • Design processes to eliminate or mitigate potential risks and create contingency plans for managing crises.
  • Evaluate existing policies and procedures, identify weaknesses, and recommend amendments to the board through management.
  • Prepare and present risk assessment reports monthly to Management and quarterly to the Board Risk Committee.
  • Implement solutions and plans to mitigate identified risks.
  • Evaluate employees’ risk awareness and provide necessary training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, or related fields.
  • Certification in Risk Management is an added advantage.
  • At least 10 years of experience in Risk Management or Assurance functions, with 5 years in a senior management position in a regulated financial institution.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated integrity and professionalism.
  • Good knowledge of accounting and international financial reporting standards.
  • Strong analytical skills.
