Job Summary:
The IT Manager will lead the formulation of the ICT strategy and contribute to shaping the long-term vision for information management at Yako Bank Uganda Ltd. The role involves overseeing and optimizing day-to-day ICT operations, ensuring that staff and clients have seamless access to necessary technical resources, applications, and support.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain the information technology and management strategy in line with stakeholder needs and best practices in IT.
- Review, align, and communicate IT performance, resources, and risk in accordance with the bank’s overall business strategy.
- Ensure alignment of information technology and management with established strategies, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the development of IT guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures, and disseminate them to technology teams within the bank.
- Manage the development and implementation of ICT and business-related technology projects, including integration, upkeep, and improvement of IT systems.
- Manage project and system dependencies at the planning, implementation, and support stages, and sign off on project management milestones.
- Oversee day-to-day IT operations, focusing on planning, change management, training, quality management, and ensuring that deadlines, budgets, and service levels are met.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and suppliers, ensuring contracts and service levels align with strategic aims and financial constraints.
- Develop and maintain the Major Incident & Business Continuity plan for IT and implement measures to safeguard the bank’s information technology needs during major incidents or disasters.
- Organize and implement servicing and support of all banking IT systems to meet agreed service level standards.
- Manage performance for all direct reports, including recruitment, development, performance management, coaching, mentoring, and employee engagement in line with the bank’s human resource plan and policies.
- Define performance contracts for staff and monitor their performance against agreed standards and objectives.
- Manage the annual Information Management budget and associated funds, including auditing and prioritizing all Information Management tools and managing the replacement cycle of IT hardware in partnership with the Finance Director.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
- Certifications in project management (e.g., PMP), IT governance (e.g., COBIT), ITIL, CISSP, or CISM are desirable.
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in IT roles, with 5 years in a supervisory or IT management role in a financial institution.
- Proven experience in managing and implementing core banking applications and systems.
