Job Description
PostBank Uganda is seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager Business Applications to join our Business Technology team. The role involves managing the implementation, governance, and support of core applications, including overseeing IT support for business applications such as Core Banking, ATM Systems, Mobile and Internet Banking, and other peripheral systems. The Manager Business Applications will be responsible for leading teams, managing risk, workload, and ensuring continuous improvement in business systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee IT support for core business applications at PostBank Uganda.
- Manage an application portfolio and associated projects.
- Identify opportunities for application optimization and process improvement.
- Provide strategic vision and create system roadmaps in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Balance competing project constraints including scope, quality, schedule, and budget.
- Lead the application support team in resolving incidents and providing support for various applications.
- Evaluate, install, configure, and deploy new applications and system enhancements.
- Manage software contracts and service agreements, ensuring compliance and reducing costs.
- Create and execute Continuous Service Improvement programs and manage platform performance.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external frameworks for systems and processes.
- Manage Quality Assurance for Business Applications.
Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies Required
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related fields.
- Certification in IT-related courses (ITIL, COBIT, Oracle certifications, etc.) is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the IT department of a busy organization.
- Experience with IT Applications, especially Core Banking systems, is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of Unix/Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Proficiency in SQL, DBMs (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL), and scripting.
- Programming experience in Python, C#, PHP, JS, Java, etc. is desired.
- Strong vendor management experience.
- Hands-on experience with application implementations, enhancements, and integrations.
- Proactive with strong problem-solving skills and an understanding of business needs.
