HR and Administration Manager Yako Bank (U) Limited

The HR and Administration Manager is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of Yako Bank Uganda Limited Human resources strategic plan. S/he will be responsible for driving the people agenda including benefits programs, employee relations, compensation structures, HR compliance and reporting functions, organizational structure and development, performance management, culture building, employee recruitment and retention, staffing, health & safety reviews in alignment with the labor laws and supporting day to day office administration.

Reporting to: The Managing Director
Job Responsibilities:
1. Define goals and objectives for the acquisition, retention, and development of human capital for Yako Bank.
2. Foster a workplace environment consistent with the Vision, Mission, and Values
3. Drive a culture of high performance across Yako Bank Uganda Ltd.
4. Develop and implement organizational change initiatives, serving as an internal consultant to the senior management team, supervisors, and employees on personnel issues that affect performance and business relationship.
5. Develop and recommend an operating budget for the Human Resources department and ensure the department operates within budget allocations
6. Direct and coordinate the development of policies and procedures to ensure effective management of Human Resources
7. Ensure that all elements of employee records, benefits files, corporate documents, etc., meet compliance rules and are kept up to date
8. Carry out regular Human Resource audits and risk assessments and engage all key stakeholders so as to close identified audit risks in a timely manner.
9. Ensure that all employee information is current in the HRIMS system and that HR staff always work within legislated guidelines.
10. Responsible for training, development, and knowledge management of the employees.
11. Keep the organization abreast of industry trends and innovations, seek continuous renewal and innovations in the delivery of services and operating systems
12. Actively promote employee engagement through cultural change and staff motivation schemes.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Humanities i.e. Human Resources, Social Sciences, Organizational Psychology, or related courses in humanities.
• A postgraduate qualification in a Human resource-related field is an added advantage.
• Must be a member of the Human Resource Managers Association.
• At least 10 years experience in Human Resource management practice in a financial institution with 5 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in championing culture transformation is desirable
• Must be an HR generalist with the ability to work in a multicultural setting
Good communication, negotiation, analytical, and planning skills
• Good understanding of Local Labor Laws Good understanding of banking policies and procedures.
• Ability to operate under tight deadlines and pressure with sound knowledge of people management principles and practice.
