Position: Manager Collections and Recoveries
Type: Full-time
Location: Head Office
Reports to: Head of Credit
Job Purpose: Manage the Recoveries team, drive performance of collections and recoveries, ensure effective management of the bank’s delinquent accounts, and recommend/implement remedial actions to minimize the risk of credit loss.
Key Responsibilities:
- Effectively manage the Recoveries team.
- Ensure satisfactory Collections and Recoveries performance aligned with the Bank’s objectives.
- Review delinquent accounts/portfolio regularly and develop timely remediation strategies.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders for efficient collection and recovery efforts.
- Ensure documentation and securities of non-performing and written-off portfolios are up to date.
- Participate in credit governance meetings to identify accounts requiring closer monitoring.
- Ensure compliance with prudential and internal policy classification and impairment requirements.
- Coordinate preparation and presentation of regular Collections and Recoveries portfolio reports.
Minimum Education Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, or relevant field.
- Qualification in Law is advantageous.
Work Experience:
- At least 5 years of experience in recoveries and collections role in financial institutions or debt recovery organizations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
Required Competencies:
- Patience and resilience.
- Relationship Management.
- Financial analysis.
- Report writing.
- Familiarity with state debt collection laws.
- Knowledge of payment plans and accounting procedures.
