Job Description:
The Ministry of Water and Environment (MWE) is the implementing agency for LIFE-AR, coordinating the day-to-day activities of the Least Developed Countries Initiative for Effective Adaptation and Resilience (LIFE-AR). The project will be piloted in twelve district local governments across Uganda. MWE seeks to recruit qualified and suitable applicants for the position of LIFE-AR Programme Officer.
Key Functions:
- Support the Districts (LIFE-AR Focal Point) to develop district work plans and budgets.
- Assist in the implementation of work plans based on approved budgets.
- Ensure timely reporting and accounting for activities implemented in the districts.
- Act as a liaison between the MWE (National Secretariat) and the district through the district LIFE-AR Focal Point.
- Monitor LIFE-AR activities in the districts.
Person Specification:
- Educational Qualifications:
- Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Environment, Natural Resources, Climate Change, Engineering, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economics, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- A postgraduate qualification is an added advantage.
- Experience:
- At least two years of experience working with communities for the government or any reputable non-governmental organization.
- Project experience at a supervisory level is an added advantage.
- Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the local language of the LIFE-AR selected district is an added advantage.
- Competencies:
- High levels of ethics and integrity.
- Good interpersonal decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and with teams to achieve distinct objectives.
- Basic computer knowledge and skills.
- Clear and effective communication skills, both written and oral.
- Detail-oriented.
- Coordination skills.
- Time management skills.
