Overview: Ndejje University (NDU), a chartered, privately owned Christian educational institution established in 1992, is seeking a competent, highly motivated, innovative, and committed individual to fill the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs (DVC AA). This is a senior position within the University’s organizational structure. The DVC AA will assist the Vice Chancellor in overseeing and supervising all academic matters, including admissions, undergraduate and postgraduate studies, research, innovation, and publications.

Qualifications:

  • Essential:
    • PhD from a recognized university or institution of higher learning.
    • At least ten (10) years of proven experience in teaching and learning, research and innovation, community outreach, leadership, and administration.
    • At least three (3) years of experience at the level of Head of Department, Faculty Dean, Director, Principal, or Deputy Director in a university/college and/or research institution.
    • Membership of a University Senate/Council or equivalent body in a reputable institution.
    • Demonstrable academic leadership through publication and research output.
    • Mature and practicing Christian who subscribes to the University’s core values and philosophy.
    • Excellent track record of high ethical standards and professionalism.
    • Age between 45-60 years at the time of application.

Experience and Key Competencies:

  • Understanding of the legal and policy framework for higher education management in Uganda.
  • Visionary leadership and team-building skills.
  • Resourcefulness and proficiency in ICT.
  • Communication, interpersonal, networking, negotiating, and people skills.
  • Resource mobilization skills.

Job Description:

  • Assist the Vice Chancellor in overseeing academic affairs and, in the Vice Chancellor’s absence, perform their functions.
  • Develop and promote policies and programs that enhance the University’s academic excellence.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and review of academic policies and programs.
  • Monitor quality and standards for undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs.
  • Manage student selection, admission, and progress.
  • Coordinate curriculum development and review.
  • Ensure compliance with assessment regulations.
  • Chair various academic sub-committees and boards.
  • Promote academic partnerships and networking.
  • Set performance targets, supervise, mentor, and appraise direct reports.
  • Perform other functions as assigned by the Vice Chancellor or University Council.
