Overview: Our client, a Government entity, is looking for suitably qualified individuals to apply for the vacant position of Accounts Officer. The position reports to the Head of Finance and Operations and is based in Kampala. This is a dream career opportunity for a highly dynamic, creative, innovative, and astute performer.
Job Title: Accounts Officer
Reports To: Head of Finance and Operations
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business Administration, Financial Management with an accounting option, or any other related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum level (1) of Professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA) is a MUST.
- A minimum of 3 years of working experience in Accounting and Finance from a reputable institution in the Public, Private, or NGO sector.
Required Knowledge:
- Computerized accounting systems.
- Understanding of Accounting Principles, i.e., AS/IFRS.
- Company taxation in Uganda.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Verify the authenticity of all payments and ensure accuracy before payment.
- Manage debtors and creditors accounts in line with the Company’s finance policy and guidelines.
- Reconcile supplier accounts and prepare payment schedules.
- Prepare company accounts, tax and statutory returns, and any other financial reports required by the Head of Finance.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries and queries in liaison with the Head of Finance.
- Carry out bank reconciliations and prepare statements on bank accounts in line with UPHL financial accounting procedures.
- Timely journalize inventory adjustments for purchase returns, expiries, damages, donations, and internally consumed stock items.
- Prepare and post journal entries and pass them to the Head of Finance for approval.
- Support the preparation of periodic reports.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Finance and/or Management.
