About St. Joseph’s Hospital Kitgum: St. Joseph’s Hospital Kitgum is a private, non-profit, community hospital located in the Northern Region of Uganda. It serves the town of Kitgum and the surrounding areas of Kitgum District, Lamwo District, and parts of the Republic of South Sudan.
Job Summary: St. Joseph’s Hospital Kitgum is seeking a dedicated Assistant Electrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will work under minimal supervision and contribute to the effective management and maintenance of the hospital’s electrical systems.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair electrical problems, including fault-finding, rewiring, and monitoring.
- Assess the electrical parts and appliances needed for a job and initiate their procurement process.
- Conduct routine maintenance and testing of electrical systems, ensuring installations meet manufacturer standards, including fire alarms and security systems.
- Re-wire faulty electrical systems such as lighting, heating systems, and alarms.
- Ensure good quality electrical workmanship that complies with building standards and follows safety requirements.
- Perform any other official duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications:
- A Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- A valid practicing certificate from the Electricity Regulatory Agency (ERA).
- LC1 recommendation letter.
- Computer literacy.
Desired Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to design, install, test, and commission electrical systems and appliances such as CCTV networks, alarms, generators, solar systems, ACs.
- Ability to conduct risk assessment, diagnostics, and safety precautions.
- High level of personal initiative and responsibility.
