Job Summary

The Procurement Manager will ensure efficient, effective, and timely administrative and procurement support to BRAC Operations, adhering to relevant policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead, develop, review, and ensure efficient implementation of procurement policies and procedures of BRAC Uganda Bank Ltd.
  • Lead the development, review, and updating of procurement policies and procedures to match the business environment.
  • Develop, review, and update the list of prequalified potential and credible suppliers of goods, services, and work.
  • Lead the development of procurement plans and guide users in procurement planning and processes.
  • Receive all requisitions with detailed specifications and justifications, arranging immediate action per procurement guidelines.
  • Ensure transparency, fairness, and integrity in all procurement support, following procurement principles and best practices.
  • Confirm all materials are procured as per user department demand and negotiate with bidders to ensure value for money.
  • Ensure thorough documentation of departmental operations and preserve all documents in line with institutional policies and procedures.
  • Efficiently and timely procure quality materials, items, and services from competent sources.
  • Negotiate with external vendors to secure favorable terms.
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
  • Oversee procurement of insurance services for premises, assets, cash, medical staff insurance, GPA, and GLA.
  • Collaborate with key persons to ensure clarity of specifications and expectations.
  • Provide leadership, coach, mentor, and develop direct reports, managing a high-performing team for continuous improvement, added value, and cost reductions.
  • Promote and endorse safeguarding policies among team members, ensuring implementation in all actions.
  • Ensure strong communication between teams to facilitate information exchange and implement change and improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Logistics Management.
  • Master’s degree in a related field with procurement is an added advantage.
  • CIPS certification is a must; project management will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in the field of procurement.

  • Proven customer service skills in dealing with internal and external customers.
  • Exceptional written communication and presentation skills; ability to write formal reports.
  • Teamwork skills: work collaboratively, find common ground, solve problems for the good of all, and represent individual interests fairly.
