About Us:
Omia Agribusiness Development Group Ltd exists to make farmers succeed in their enterprises. The company ensures that farming communities have access to climate-smart, quality agro inputs for crop and animal production, extension services, and market linkages for their output. Our flagship product, the Omia Agribusiness App, provides farmers and the public with an online platform for shopping crop production inputs, animal production inputs, fresh food items from farmers, irrigation and greenhouse equipment, and free extension materials for farmers. We are seeking a motivated and skilled Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development and success of our mobile application and other digital platforms.

Job Summary:
The Software Engineer will support the development, implementation, and maintenance of the Omia Agribusiness App and other digital platforms such as our website. This junior position requires a proactive individual with a foundational understanding of software development, a focus on user experience, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various teams.

Key Responsibilities:
Development and Implementation:
• Assist in the design, development, and deployment of the Omia Agribusiness App on iOS and Android platforms.
• Collaborate with senior developers and UX/UI designers to create user-friendly applications and websites that meet design standards.
• Participate in the testing process to ensure the quality and performance of mobile applications and the website.

Website Management:
• Support the development, maintenance, and updates of the company website.
• Ensure the website is user-friendly, visually appealing, and optimized for search engines.
• Monitor website performance and user feedback to identify areas for improvement.

Project Support:
• Contribute to the planning and execution of mobile application and website projects.
• Assist in gathering requirements, defining project scope, and establishing timelines.
• Support project documentation and communication with stakeholders.

Maintenance and Support:
• Help maintain and update the Omia Agribusiness App and website.

Monitor application and website performance and user feedback to identify areas for improvement.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues in a timely manner.

Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including Management, Agronomists, Animal Health and Nutrition Officers, marketing, sales, and customer support to ensure digital platforms meet business needs.
• Communicate project status, challenges, and solutions to team members effectively.

Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology.

Experience:
• Some experience in software development through internships, academic projects, or previous employment.
• Basic understanding of iOS and Android platforms, and website development.

Technical Skills:
• Familiarity with programming languages
• Exposure to mobile development frameworks and tools
• Basic knowledge of backend technologies

Soft Skills:
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
