About Organisation:

Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is an independently governed institute within the College of Health Sciences at Makerere University and has the mission “To strengthen health systems in Africa, with a strong emphasis on infectious diseases, through research and capacity development.” IDI has operations across Uganda as well as in a number of other African countries and has a staffing of over 1,000 managing multiple projects in research, clinical services, public health and training.

 

Job Summary:   The social sciences graduate trainee will support qualitative data collection, data transcription, data analysis and organizing of qualitative interview groups. The trainee will support the MRC DRONES project and other Academy qualitative Projects with the guidance and supervision of the Social Sciences Lead.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Screen potential subjects to determine their eligibility as study participants
    • Recruit and schedule research participants
    • Obtain informed consent
    • Conduct interviews with research participants
    • Assistance in the design of qualitative interview guides and other data collection tools
    • Data entry and data cleaning including transcription of audio files
    • Conduct quality control checks on study case report forms
    • Uphold the organization and the Academy’s external image
    • Any other roles as designated by the supervisors
