BRAC Uganda Bank Limited  launched on 25 April 2019 and attained its current status as a Tier II Credit institution following a successful background as the leading Microfinances services provider in Uganda. The bank operates 32 regulated branches and 131 satellite offices covering 84 districts in Uganda targeting Micro, Small. and Medium Entrepreneurs. BRAC Uganda Bank Ltd promotes financial inclusion by extending financial services to unserved and underserved populations especially women and youth as well as people living in poverty in rural areas. The Bank is operationally and financially self-sustaining with over 231,000 active customers and a loan book in excess of Ushs.175 billion.

 

Job Summary: The Head of Human Resource will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of BRAC Uganda Bank Human resources strategic plan. She / he will be responsible for driving the people agenda including benefits programs, employee relations, compensation structures, HR compliance and reporting functions, organizational structure and development, performance management culture budding employee recruitment and retention, staffing, health & safety reviews in alignment with the labor laws.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct or define goals and objectives for the acquisition, retention, and development of human capital for the Bank
  • Foster a workplace environment consistent with the Vision, mission and Values
  • Drive a culture of high performance across BRAC Uganda Bank Ltd.
  • Develop and implement organizational change initiatives
  • Serie as internal consultant to the senior management team, supervisors, and employees on personnel issues that affect performance and business relationships
  • Develop and recommend operating budget for the Human Resources department and ensure the department operates within budget allocations.
  • Make expenditure adjustments during the budget cycle as appropriate to ensure efficient funds management
  • Recruits, directs, motivates, and evaluates Human Resources staff
  • Consult with legal as needed and update and advise the executive leadership on legal issues as necessary.
  • Direct and coordinate the development of policies and procedures to ensure effective management of Human Resources.
  • Ensure that all elements of employee records, benefits files, corporate
  • documents, etc. meet compliance rules and are kept up to date
  • Carry out regular Human Resource audit and risk assessment and engage at key stakeholders so as to close identified audit risks in a timely manner
  • Ensure that at employee information is current in the HRIS system, and that HR staff always work within legislated guidelines.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining audit standards and keeping HR Operations in compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
  • Responsible for training development and knowledge management of the employees
  • Keep the organization abreast with industry trends and innovations.
  • Seek continuous renewal and innovations in deliver of services and operating systems
  • Actively promote employee engagement through cultural change and start motivation schemes.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Humanities i e Human Resource, Social Sciences, Organizational Psychology or related courses in humanities.
  • A masters degree in Human Resource Management
  • A member of Human Resource Managers Association.
  • At least 10 years experience in Human Resource management practice in a financial institution with 5 years at a senior management level.
  • Experience in spearheading/ championing culture transformation is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of HR and Payroll systems.

  • Good understanding of Local Labor Laws
