Accounts Assistant Nexgen

Nexgen is a fast-growing Organisation operating in East Africa. Nexgen is both a commercial and engineering organization and as a Distributor responsible for sales and marketing of automating petrol stations, dispensing pumps of World leading brands. To promote the Energy transition Nexgen is in conjunction marketing Renewable and Energy Efficient equipment delivering a sustainable energy transition. Its Engineering department provides maintenance and installation services of the Equipment sold.

JOB SUMMARY
Provides functional support to the Head of Finance. The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for accurate and timely preparation of various accounting entries, reports, and projects.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Processing transactions and managing company floats for efficient facilitation of mechanical maintenance contracts requests and other administrative payouts. Calculating and checking to make sure payments, amounts and records are correct.
• Collaborating with HoF to ensure the completeness of the payment’s dashboard and cashflow forecast.
• Collaborating with accountants to ensure daily update and completeness of the accounts receivable ageing analysis.
• Receive and review day-to-day invoices, subcontracts, purchase orders, and/or other related documentation for completeness and compliance with financial policies, procedures, budget, and contractual requirements.
• Preparing statutory deductions and filing the same including VAT and withholding taxes returns.
• Recording financial transactions in accounting software, including invoices, expenses, and payments.
• Identify discrepancies in ledgers and accounts, tracking them to the source and correcting them.
• Verify payments and deposits made through the company accounts.

Prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements.
• Processing payments and invoices accurately and within expected time periods
• Working closely with the accountants to ensure accuracy of reporting and pinpointing any discrepancies.
• Aiding with financial reporting, in the form of the preparation of financial reports for profit and loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements.
• Assist with month-end, year-end closing activities and audit preparations.
• Perform a wide range of accounting and administrative duties to support the accounting department.
• Other duties may be assigned.

PRE-ENTRY REQUESTED EXPERIENCE
• A bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting or Business Management, CPA qualification
• At least 2 years’ experience working in accounts department in a busy environment.
