Job Summary: The Head of Marketing will shape the public image of Nation Media Group Uganda and enhance our market presence through innovative marketing and communications strategies that work to build the brands and ultimately grow profitability and market share.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop comprehensive marketing and communications strategies and plans for NMG-Uganda brands that align with our business goals and digital-first strategy.
- Lead the marketing team in executing high-impact campaigns that effectively attract and retain audiences across various media platforms. legacy and digital.
- Oversee the creation of engaging marketing and communications content that resonates with our target audiences. including videos. blogs. newsletters. and press releases.
- Develop and manage the company’s brands and reputation across all media, ensuring consistency and coherence in all messaging and content in order to grow awareness and market share (brand manuals inclusive).
- Develop, manage and execute a customer service strategy that delights stakeholders.
- Spearhead the company’s public relations efforts. building strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate marketing strategies with product development. sales, and customer service initiatives.
- Develop and implement an annual market research plan that will guide decision making in marketing, content (editorial and broadcast), product development etc.
- Analyze market trends and data to refine strategies and report on ROI and campaign performance to senior management.
- Regularly conduct cross-departmental brand sessions so that the commercial and content teams understand the brand personas, their audiences and the market trends.
- Coordinates the continuous gathering of Information and feedback from customers, the trade and market place (through market analyses and market research) to guide tactics and strategy to meet Identified needs.
- Coordinates with HR Manager and General Manager Commercial, the department’s human resources and programmes to ensure a highly motivated. disciplined and developed marketing team.
- Prepares and manages the approved marketing communications budget, allocating resources for maximum impact.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Academic: Bachelor degree in marketing. communication or business-related field from an accredited University.
- Professional: Professional qualification/post graduate diploma in CIM. MBA or masters degree is an added advantage.
- Experience: At least 9 years working experience with 3 years at middle management level. Experience in a media related industry and digital marketing will be required.

- An appreciation of the media industry and an understanding of the market dynamics.
- Budget development and management skills.
- Experience in digital marketing and an understanding of digital analytics tools. SEO, social media marketing and content management systems.

- Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Innovative and creative thinker with a strong ability to create strategies that engage and grow audiences.
- Strong business acumen.
