About Makerere University Walter Reed Project (MUWRP):
MUWRP, established in 2002, focuses on HIV vaccine development and research, enhancing vaccine testing capabilities in Uganda. It operates under the Department of Defense (DoD) United States HIV Research Program, based at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR).

Description:
MUWRP is seeking Data Officers – Prevention to support the HIV prevention, care, and treatment program through monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities. This role involves improving data quality, conducting data analysis, supporting capacity building for data staff, and ensuring compliance with M&E procedures across PEPFAR prevention programs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Improve data quality through audits, cleaning, and verification.
  • Establish systems for tracking reports to enhance completeness and timeliness.
  • Plan and facilitate performance review meetings with sub-grantees and district teams.
  • Clean various systems (e.g., KP tracker, OVC tracker, DHIS2) to ensure reliable reporting.
  • Provide data analysis and guidance for targeted community and facility-level interventions.
  • Capacity building of data teams in reporting and verification processes.
  • Conduct routine data reviews and monitor program performance.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in statistics, quantitative methods, demography, population studies, or a relevant discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum three years in M&E/PEPFAR data management and reporting.
  • Additional Skills: Strong data analysis skills, experience with DHIS2 and GIS tools, excellent communication skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively, and meet tight deadlines.

Physical Ability:

  • Permanent residence in Luwero or Nakasongola.
  • Frequent travel to MUWRP PEPFAR supported sites in Kayunga, Mukono, Buikwe, and Buvuma Islands.
