Job Summary: The Regenshope Initiative is seeking three passionate and experienced Community Agroforestry & Nature-Based Restoration field officer to join our team! In this role, you will play a vital role in helping our community members become stewards of their land by providing them with the knowledge and skills to implement effective nature-based practices.
The Community Agroforestry & Nature-based Restoration field officer will play a vital role in empowering our community members by providing them with the knowledge and skills to implement sustainable land management practices. You will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging training programs, conducting field demonstrations, and fostering a collaborative environment to support the success of the Regenshope Initiative.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver comprehensive training programs on agroforestry principles and techniques, incorporating Nature-based restoration practices for improved land and communities health.
- Conduct interactive workshops and field demonstrations to provide hands-on learning experiences on establishing, maintaining, and harvesting agroforestry systems, while promoting native plant species and habitat restoration.
- Collaborate with community leaders and the Regenshope team leads to identify specific needs and challenges related to agroforestry integration and Nature-based restoration efforts.
- Provide ongoing technical assistance and support to community members as they implement agroforestry practices and Nature-based restoration techniques on their land.
- Conduct field visits to monitor progress through use of technology, identify potential issues, and offer solutions to ensure the success of community projects that combine agroforestry and Nature-based restoration.
- Maintain accurate records of training activities, participant engagement, and project outcomes related to both agroforestry and Nature-based restoration.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in agroforestry research, Nature-based restoration practices, and best practices for integrating both.
Qualifications Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Ecological Restoration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience working in agroforestry, Nature-based restoration, or a related field, preferably with a community development focus.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering engaging training programs for adult learners.
- Strong field experience in agroforestry practices, Nature-based restoration techniques, and plant selection, establishment, and management.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills to effectively engage with diverse community members.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
- Cultural sensitivity and a commitment to building trust and rapport within the community.
- Strong commitment to sustainable land management practices.
- Proficiency in Acholi language is an added advantage.
