Job Summary: We are looking for an all-round, skilled and motivated Aquaponics System Builder to join our team. The ideal candidate will have vocational training in plumbing and/or construction, and be adept at a variety of techniques and (power) tools. The role involves building aquaponics systems and supporting infrastructure, following instructions, and providing advice for improvements. The Builder will work closely with design engineers to build demonstration systems and systems for clients.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- System Construction: Assemble and install demo and client aquaponics systems according to design specifications and instructions and train operators. Utilize plumbing and construction skills to ensure systems are built efficiently and effectively. Work with various materials, including PVC, metal, and wood.
- Tool and Equipment Management: Operate power tools and hand tools safely and effectively. Maintain tools and equipment in good condition. Ensure the worksite is safe and organized.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with design engineers to understand system requirements and specifications. Provide feedback and recommendations for improvements to system designs and builds. Communicate effectively with team members and clients.
- Quality Control: Inspect completed systems to ensure they meet quality standards and design specifications. Troubleshoot and resolve any issues that arise during the construction process. Perform routine maintenance and repairs on existing systems as needed.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Diploma in plumbing, construction, or a related field.
- Proficiency in using power tools and hand tools.
- Ability to read and follow technical drawings and instructions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in hydroponics, aquaponics, greenhouse construction or a related field is a plus.
