About Organisation:
Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services for people with disability in Uganda (CoRSU) was established in 2006 as a private non-profit, nongovernmental organization and is supported by CBM (Christian Blind Mission). CoRSU provides Orthopaedic Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Rehabilitation, mainly for children as well as adults with disability.
Job Summary: The Communications Officer shall develop patient profiles as requested by the donor (Healing hugs) based on specified criteria. He/she shall work closely with PMO team in activities that contribute to increased brand awareness through publicity, market share, maintain good public image. develop, and maintain brand consistency. The position Holder shall handle other program related roles as shall be assigned.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Program reports, stories, and action plans compiled/developed.
- Electronic profiles of patients (photos/pictures taken and stories collected) and stored. Catalogues of compelling stories developed and made accessible.
- Patient profile drafts/summary reports prepared for donor specific (i.e. Healing Hugs).
- Profiles (photo) classification especially children scheduled for surgery done for donor specific (Healing Hugs) reports and fundraising.
- Disseminating assigned project work regarding stories and reports as requested.
- Contribution made to articles, interviews, and features about CoRSU in the compilation of the Annual Report and Newsletters, etc.
- Programs Management team supported in the in preparation of new grant applications and information packs.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- University degree in a relevant field preferably Mass Communication or Project management
- Qualification in professional photographic courses
- Training in use of observation and media reporting tools
- Grants writing/project proposal writing is an added advantage.
Experience:
- 2 years’ experience in writing compelling stories for successful grants.
- A proven track record of supporting funding proposal writing teams.
- 2 years’ exhibited experience in taking good quality professional pictures.
