Assistant Finance & Administration Officer Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program – Makerere University

Position Summary
The Assistant Finance and Administration Officer shall provide financial and administrative support in accordance with the University’s Financial management guidelines and the financial guidelines of Mastercard Foundation.

Eligibility: Scholar Alumni of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Makerere University

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Monitor and manage employee expense reports and accountabilities, ensuring adherence to University and Program-level guidelines
2. Ensure proper recording and archiving of financial documents
3. Perform monthly Accounts’ reconciliations
4. Monitor Petty Cash Expenditures and ensure timely accountability
5. Maintenance of the Program asset register
6. Timely preparation of URA reports to the Finance office for statutory filings
7. Support the preparation of periodic financial reports
8. Convene and provide administration support for the Alumni engagements
9. Monitor, identify and report any safeguarding concerns that may arise during the Program implementation

Requirements: Qualification, Skills, And Experience
1. At least a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Commerce, Business Administration, or any other related field
2. Should hold at least CPA level two or ACCA or has enrolled for any of the two professional programmes as an added advantage
3. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
4. Knowledge of relevant accounting principles and regulations.
5. At least two years of experience in accounting.
