About Organisation:
The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program envisions a transformative network of young people and institutions driving inclusive and equitable socio-economic change in Africa. Since launching in 2012, the Program has supported nearly 45,000 young people in Africa to pursue secondary or tertiary education. The second phase of the Program will offer 1000 Scholarships to young African women and men, admitted to both the Undergraduate and Graduate Academic Programmes at Makerere University Main Campus. The Program aims to deepen inclusive University education and empower the Youth to transform into leaders who will make meaningful contributions to national and regional development.
Job Summary: The Transition Lead shall lead in implementation of transition portfolio and agency/voice of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program. This includes managing Transformative Leadership, entrepreneurship, and career services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Co-ordinate the career development activities for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars
- Co-ordinate the Transformative Leadership Trainings and engagements for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars in liaison with Partners
- Organize entrepreneurship development training for Mastercard Foundation Scholars and Coordinate the Scholars Entrepreneurship Fund Initiative.
- Coordinate activities to facilitate transitioning of Mastercard Foundation Scholars from the University to formal employment, entrepreneurship engagements or further education
- Coordinate the engagements of Strategic Partnerships that will facilitate transition of Mastercard Foundation Scholars from the University to the world of work
- Co-ordinate the periodic tracer studies for Mastercard Foundation Scholar Alumni
- In Liaison with the Innovations and Business Enterprises Officer, ensure optimal utilization of the Innovation and incubation centres within Makerere University and beyond.
- Develop and operationalize the framework for the industry-based mentorship programme
- Strengthen the Entrepreneurship ecosystem at Makerere University through scaling up Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program innovations and learning experiences
- Monitor, identify and report any safeguarding concerns that may arise during the Program implementation.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Master’s degree in business administration, Public Administration and Management, Development Studies, or any other related field from a recognised University.
- A Bachelor’s degree in development studies, social work and Social Administration, Business Administration, Education, Management studies or any other related field from a recognised University.
- A post graduate qualification (Diploma) in any of the following namely, Project Management, Human Resource Management, Monitoring and Evaluation is necessary.
- Five years of work experience in the provision of Education support services in higher institutions of learning and connecting with the employment world.
- Demonstrated evidence in planning and implementing higher education support programmes
- Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office and Google Suites
- Demonstrated evidence in building and coordinating networks to support young people in higher educational institutions.
