MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
The IT Support staff will be responsible for providing technical assistance to train users, training of trainers, and network enhancements at the assigned hospitals to support EMR use, respond to any technical assistance electronic Logistics Management Information Systems (eLMIS) use at health facilities.
This position is open for Uganda Nationals only.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES
The IT Associates will be responsible for providing technical assistance to train users, train the trainers, and conduct network enhancements at the assigned hospitals to support EMR us and respond to any technical assistance needs to sustain use of electronic Logistics Management Information Systems (eLMIS) at health facilities.
Major Activities / Responsibilities
1. Capacity building of EMR users at Referral Hospitals (25%)
• Train EMR users at assigned referral hospital to ensure smooth transition of the hospitals to the MoH recommended EMRs.
• Sustained use of MoH recommended comprehensive EMRs at the assigned hospitals
2. Set up of the hospital computers for EMR use (10%)
• Install, setup/customize, and configure computers at the hospitals for MoH recommended EMR use.
3. Referral Hospitals Network enhancements for smooth use of EMR (15%)
• As needed, install, and configure networking equipment for the hospitals, including Wi-Fi, LAN setup and security, to ensure all key departments are connected to the hospital servers for use of EMRs
4. Support roll out of EMR in selected hospitals and HCIVs (25%)
• Train selected regional EMR trainers who will be tasked with responsibility of roll out of EMR in lower sites in the region as per MoH EMR roll out plans.
• Monitor and support roll out of EMRs in selected hospitals and HCIVs in the assigned region
5. Support eLMIS use in non EMR sites (25%)
• Provide technical assistance to sustain eLMIS use in the lower facilities which will not be onboarded on comprehensive EMRs. This will involve provision of remote technical assistance to district based eLMIS mentors, installation of synchronization app (where need be), installation of RxSolution to the new eLMIS computers among others.
Required minimum Education
• Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer science, Information Systems, software engineering or related field is required.
• Strong problem solving and computer skills
• Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills.
Required minimum years of experience
2 – 4 Years doing similar work
Knowledge and skills
• Computer installation and setup (Software and hardware)
• Knowledge on Networking computing devices
• Knowledge of either or both of Clinic Master and eAFYA is an added advantage.
• Knowledge of electronic logistics management information systems (preferably RxSolution)
• Ability to work independently and display initiative.
• Previous experience in installing and using eLMIS is an added advantage
Competencies
• Strong problem solving and computer skills
• Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills.
Physical demands
• Standing while delivering training sessions
• Minimal such as installation and servicing of applications on computers
• Field travel to the different districts within the respective region in Uganda.
