Organizational Setting
As part of FAO’s effort to strengthen One Health workforce at community level, NSAH-CJW is implementing the project “Empowering veterinary paraprofessional entrepreneurs”, in Uganda, Nigeria and South Africa. This project builds on a first phase of implementation between 2021-2023 and aims to deliver and evaluate a model for sustainable last mile animal health service delivery through capacity development of private sector veterinary paraprofessionals (VPPs), and by addressing bottlenecks within the business environment. Gender-sensitive programming is an essential part of the project. Women make up 60% of poor smallholder livestock farmers and are therefore a key target group for last mile animal health services.
The project is centred around four complementary outcomes:
• Outcome 1: Strengthened veterinary paraprofessional businesses providing gender responsive preventive healthcare services.
• Outcome 2: Increased pool of continuous professional development compliant and registered veterinary paraprofessionals
• Outcome 3: Improved business climate for veterinary paraprofessionals
• Outcome 4: Increased awareness of private sector preventive healthcare veterinary paraprofessional business model for improved access to animal health services

Reporting Lines
Under the overall supervision of the ECTAD Country team leader and the direct supervision of the VPP Project Country Coordinator and in close collaboration with the global M&E officer the incumbent will perform the following duties:

Tasks and responsibilities
• Support the country coordinator to ensure project activities are timely implemented including workplan monitoring, reporting and formulation.
• Take minutes of important meetings, proofread documentation, and prepare draft invitation letters and agendas in accordance with FAO guidelines.
• Support in the development of communications products, including PPTs, social media and other visibility products to be shared with the communications unit.
• Support the organization and delivery of virtual and face-to-face events as well as in-field missions in line with FAO rules and regulations and in close cooperation and under the guidance of FAO Uganda’s operational and administrative personnel.
• Liaise with workshop attendees with respect to travel and data re-imbursements.
• Facilitate easy collection and organised storage of data emanating from VPP training institutions, VPPs, third party organisations and relevant stakeholders.
• Ensure project archives are regularly updated on sharepoint including workshop attendance lists, VPP, mentor and trainer, National Advisory Committee and Multi-stakeholder platform members contact database.
• Update project monitoring database with regards to trainee, mentor, and trainer attendance of workshops.
• Conduct in person and telephone surveys with VPPs to collect data for baseline and post-training livelihoods framework assessment to assess training impact.
• Support liaison with partners and relevant stakeholders; and
• Undertake other related duties and duty missions when required.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
• University degree in management, rural development, social sciences or equivalent.
• At least one years of relevant experience assisting project implementation.
• At least one year of experience in data collection, management, and reporting
• Working knowledge of English (Level C).
• National of Uganda.

Selection criteria
• Good knowledge of FAO or united national operations procedures is desirable.
• Competent in using Excel, formatting in Word, and archiving in SharePoint.
• Experiences in supporting delivery of trainings in the animal health sector.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
