The Mukwano Group of Companies is the leading manufacturer of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) in the Great Lakes region, producing a wide range of market leader brands in soaps, edible cooking oils and fats, detergents, beverages, personal care products and plastics.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up, adjust, and operate sachet packaging machines according to production schedules and specifications.
  • Plan and carry out preventive maintenance of production machines with assistance of the Engineering team.
  • Operate production machines efficiently with less or no wastage.
  • Control wastage of materials and recycling.
  • Ensuring that the products produced are of good quality.
  • Adhere to health and safety practices.
  • To oversee housekeeping around the machine area.
  • Check the materials provided to ensure rightful amounts and materials are provided.
  • Inspect the machines regularly to ensure they are in good and operational condition.
  • Detect and report any faults to the Plant Maintenance Electrician/Mechanic.
  • Any other duties assigned by the Shift Supervisor

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education with a bias in science subjects.
  • One year of relevant experience in a manufacturing plant.
  • Good communication skills including reading skills.
  • An aptitude for math.
  • Mechanical ability.
  • Physical strength and stamina.
  • The ability to work in high places.
  • The ability to get along well with co-workers.
  • The ability to keep up to date with changing technology.
  • The ability to do precision work
