Job Purpose/Scope
The Partnerships and Institutional Fundraising Advisor will be responsible for identifying, developing, and managing strategic partnerships for the Uganda Country program. S/he will lead the process of identification of unrestricted and flexible funding opportunities from institutional donors, responding to calls for funding including drafting concept notes, position papers, and funding proposals in close collaboration with the technical leads; this role will lead initiatives that position the country program as the preferred partner for donors in development sector. The partnerships and Institutional Fundraising Advisor will also play a critical role in developing policy briefs and high-level advocacy as well as leading the drafting of external reports/ communications that impact the image of Stromme Foundation Uganda as an organization. S/He will be part of the Country’s Senior Leadership team and will report directly to the Country Director
Strategic Program Development
§ Spearhead business development initiatives including identification of institutional funding opportunities and coordinating the drafting of concepts and funding proposals together with the program team to secure funding from institutional donors with a shared vision and values of Stromme Foundation.
§ Work closely with the country technical team and in liaison with the head office unit for Strategic Partnership and Grant management in the International Department to lead the in-country resource mobilization initiatives.
§ Work closely with the Head office’s International Department to develop strategic documents and communications that will strategically position the country program to be attractive to potential institutional donors.
§ Work with the Communications & PR specialist to ensure appropriate representation and communications about Stromme Foundation Uganda are shared with the target audiences using appropriate channels.
§ Coordinate/ lead the drafting of policy briefs and advocacy statements with PMEAL and the programs team.
§ Manage strategic communications to implementing partners.
§ As a member of the Country Senior Leadership Team participate in leadership meetings and provide strategic insight
Partnership Management
§ Develop Stromme Foundation Uganda’s partnership strategy and work with technical leads to ensure its successful execution.
§ Develop and effectively manage strategic relationships with key sector players at the national and local level, with line Ministries, District Local Governments, and implementing partners in collaboration with the program team.
§ Contribute to the identification of capacity-building needs of implementing partners in line with advocacy and resource mobilization and coordinate/spearhead capacity-building/ strengthening interventions for all implementing partners in close collaboration with Finance and PMEAL and Program Unit heads.
§ Work with thematic leads to develop a common institutional development/capacity-building strategy and plan for implementation partners as well as oversee execution.
§ Monitor partner capacity growth and development in line with capacity building/ strengthening initiatives of the organization.
§ Coordinate the Youth Act Now program in collaboration with the Communications & PR Specialist ensuring timely and quality implementation as approved, including the well-being of the volunteers, sharing required information to Act Now donors as and when required on a qualitative and timely basis, and organize/facilitate program activities and donor visits.
Reporting
§ Maintain grant reporting schedules, work with program teams to draft narrative reports before donor deadlines, review reports for accuracy and consistency with finance, projects, and M&E teams
§ Ensure timely reporting and adherence to donor reporting requirements.
§ Work with the Communications & PR Specialist and unit leads to ensure preparation and production of quality press briefs, fact sheets, and any other external facing documentation as well as oversee the sharing of such documentation to the right audiences.
§ Any other duties assigned.
Qualification, and requirements
• A proven record of institutional fundraising and establishment of networks is a MUST.
• Skills and experience in policy and advocacy
• Ability to effectively identify, engage, and manage strategic relationships with senior external stakeholders including Government, private sector partners, and implementing partners.
• Technical experience in partner capacity gap identification and capacity-building initiatives
• Clear understanding of program development dynamics.
• Experience applying design thinking approaches to programming and innovation.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in program development/ management in varied portfolios; Agriculture, education, SME, and related programs.
• Minimum (3) years of experience at a senior level in an international organization with strong leadership experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Program development related courses
• A master’s degree in the related area is preferred.
