Responsibilities
Job Purpose:
The job role is responsible for planning, designing, and coordinating the implementation of a sound SACCO accounting, financial management & internal control system.
Scope of duties: This role largely entails financial oversight and analysis, whose components include accounts-level monitoring, financial forecasting, financial contingency planning, and financial reporting.
Reporting Lines: This position directly reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Extent of authority: The job holder has a fiduciary responsibility for the financial and operational management of funds and other SACCO assets. This also includes establishing internal controls and reviewing and approving cash payments per the SACCO’s authorization matrix of approval limits.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide strong oversight in risk, governance, conformance, and adherence to internal controls.
• Supervise and coordinate the preparation of various financial reports (such as income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flows), management accounts, and statutory accounts in accordance with ISA, IESBA, GAAP, and IFRS codes.
• Coordinate the preparation and adherence to annual budgets and rolling business plans.
• Identifying any available investment alternatives while safeguarding the SACCO against currency risk exposure.
• Ensure a healthy loan book and growth of member savings portfolio
• Ensure monthly budget monitoring, preparation of monthly reconciliation, and budget variance analysis reports.
• Ensure tax compliance, including filing and payment of the respective tax heads and other statutory obligations (VAT, WHT, NSSF, PAYE, Corporate tax), and manage all correspondences with the tax regulator.
• Carry out treasury management activities, including managing cash flows, banking arrangements, payment disbursements, and providing cash flow reports to management.
• In time, supervise the accurate preparation and disbursement of the SACCO’s payroll with the relevant authorities.
• Verify all expenditure and procurement requisitions/payments.
• Participate in project proposal design, writing, reviewing budgets, and tracking respective projects’ budget implementation.
• Ensure timely, accurate data feeds and files in the organization’s accounting software, data safety, and risk management.
• Ensure timely completion of internal and statutory audits and coordinate the implementation of audit review recommendations.
Qualifications
• Bachelors/BSc. Commerce, Business Administration (majoring in accounting), or Accounting & Finance.
• CPA or ACCA Qualified.
