Yalelo (U) Limited is a tilapia fish farm that was established in Uganda in 2019. The farm is located in Butembe, Buikwe district on the shores of Lake Victoria. Yalelo Uganda is a subsidiary of First Wave Group B.V; a Dutch company with a portfolio of aquaculture related assets in Africa. First Wave Group owns and operates Yalelo Zambia, a pioneer of Aquaculture founded in 2011 that has grown quickly to become the leading fish farm in Zambia and among the largest aquaculture farms in Africa.
Job Summary: The Telehandler Operator is responsible for transporting materials/equipment from a storage space to a designated workplace. This applies to materials/equipment that are stored in a site compound and need to be moved to a loading bay or any other location. This movement of materials should be completed in accordance with site security requirements and in a safe and responsible manner.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate the Telehandler to deliver materials/equipment and other items to specified destinations.
- Perform regular checks on the Telehandler following guidelines issued by the Line Manager
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by complying with health, safety, and environmental procedures and legislation as well as maintaining housekeeping standards.
- Ensure that the Machine is kept clean, in good condition, and parked safely all the time.
- Reporting mechanical faults to the Supervisor/Engineering Manager.
- Responsible for accuracy during loading to avoid overloading.
- Carry out basic maintenance of the machine as per the approved Maintenance Schedule
- Any other duties assigned by the Line Manager.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Uganda Certificate of Education.
- Professional Certificate in Telehandler Operation
- At least two years of experience in Driving a Telehandler, Forklift, or Tractor.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly flexible and adaptable to new environments.
- Exposure to working in a very busy work environment.
- Ability to work independently under minimum or no supervisor.
- Honesty and integrity.
