The National Agricultural Research Organization (NARO) is mandated to coordinate, oversee and guide agricultural research in Uganda. Over the years, NARO has generated technologies and products with Intellectual Property (IP) and commercial potential guided by relevant policies under her mission of innovating for sustainable agricultural transformation.

 

Job Summary: The Land Manager will be tasked with ensuring security of NARO’s land assets by providing technical leadership in the management of land matters.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish and regularly update the NARO land cadastre for easy access to the land information and planning.
  • Coordinate surveys and titling of NARO institutional lands
  • Undertake cadastral verifications to support decision making on land matters.
  • Prepare land use maps for NARO institutional lands for improved land use planning and governance.
  • Undertake capacity building of farm managers and human resource officers on cadastral tools for land management for improved land governance and land use planning.
  • Provide technical liaison with both national and international institutions on matters of land management.
  • Ensure that Institutes develop and implement land-use plans.
  • Ensure land use is compliant with regulations, making suggestions for sustainable use, and researching the impact of development.
  • Work with the legal office in matters of land litigation.
  • Perform any other tasks that may be provided by the Director Corporate Service and /or Management from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicants for the National Agricultural Research Organization job should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following fields: Surveying, Cartography or Geo-informatics plus a Master’s Degree in any of the mentioned fields from a recognised university.
  • At least ten years of experience in coordinating issues of land surveys, titling, acquisition and appropriation in a government institution.
  • Must have a formal training in the field of GIS and Remote Sensing and demonstrable experience working with mapping software or Autocad for land management.
  • Must have knowledgeable in either Surveying or Cartography.
  • Must be conversant with institutional, legal frameworks and mechanisms in national land governance and management.
  • Age Limit: Not more than 50 years
