Job Summary:   The Business Analyst – SME will be developing and analyzing SME credit proposals through effective credit appraisal and due diligence process in order to achieve quality portfolio growth. The incumbent will also plan and deliver administrative support to the SME unit in line with the Bank’s policies and regulatory framework.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review, document and maintain a register of all SME Loans in line with compliance, risk and regulatory requirements.
  • Review and follow up SME Loan facilities from inception to disbursement with respective stakeholders in line with Bank credit policies and procedures, sign to recommend for disbursement if documentation and analysis so as to fast track turnaround time for the loans.
  • Cross check if loans have been approved in applicable loan origination systems before forwarding files to disbursement.
  • Document review of files received from the different branches.
  • Find errors, fix and capture the errors in a separate log for follow up.
  • Daily monitoring of the pending applications, escalating the pending applications, keeping track of the sales controllable errors per sales person, preparing the outstanding items report and sharing the report with the sales persons and SME banking team.
  • Ensure that offer letters, Key Facts Documents and other key documentation are properly filled and well signed by the customer before forwarding the files for disbursement.
  • Monitor the performance of the loan book to ensure quality portfolio.
  • Identify support areas to drive growth in the SME banking portfolio.
  • Handle customer queries and complaints and resolve them in a timely manner and escalate any unresolved queries in in line with the Customer Service Charter.
  • Ensure KYC compliance for all files received.
  • Deliver on PAR & NPA ratios as per bank recommended thresholds.
  • Responsible for controlling costs to within agreed budget
  • Comply with AML/CFT/CPF policies and procedures, non-compliance of which shall be addressed as per the bank disciplinary processes.
  • Perform any other work-related duties that you may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold an Honours degree in banking, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, management or any relevant field.
  • Relevant Practical training in banking, product management.
  • At least three years of experience in a Banking, of which one must be in credit or related role.
  • Knowledge of MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint)
  • Understanding of Bank products and services and knowledge of the banking operation issues in Uganda.
  • Proactive and quick response to customers and employees’ queries;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Fluent in the English Language and any other local language preferably Luganda particularly for explanatory purposes to Bank customers who do not understand the English Language.
