Action Against Hunger USA is part of the Action Against Hunger Inter- national network. As an independent NGO, Action Against Hunger USA currently manages operations in 8 countries: Kenya, South Sudan, So- malia, Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, Zambia and Haiti. Action Against Hunger-USA has over $100 million in programs, and approximately 1,800 permanent staff based in New York City, Washington D.C, Nai- robi, and country offices. Additional growth is anticipated.

About the Role & Project:
We are looking for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Project Manager on the Right2Grow project. Right2Grow is a five years (2021 -2025) global project implemented in 6 Countries (Uganda, South Sudan, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Burkina Faso, and Mali), and is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs – The Netherlands. The project goal is to ensure that every child reaches its full potential by addressing mal- nutrition with specific emphasis on undernutrition, targeting the most vulnerable women and children.
In Uganda, the Right2Grow Program is implemented in 10 districts by a consortium. The Strategic partners include; The Hunger Project Ugan- da (Consortium Lead); Action Against Hunger (MEAL Lead); World Vi- sion Uganda (Lobby and Advocacy Lead), and Centre for Economic Governance and Accountability in Africa (BMET Lead). The national partners include; Civil Society Budget Advocacy Group (CSBAG); Food Rights Alliance (FRA); Community Integrated Development Ini- tiative (CIDI); Nutrition Society of Uganda (NSU), and The Movement for Community Led Development Uganda Chapter (MCD-U).
The Project Manager is primarily responsible for overseeing the smooth and effective implementation of the Right2Grow project, pro- viding required support, guidance and technical supervision; commu- nication with consortium partners, donors, and all other stakeholders, and the overall cycle of project management including assurance of effective and smooth activity implementation and budget utilization. S/he represents Action Against Hunger and the Right2Grow project on different coordination and advocacy platforms and liaises with various stakeholders including consortium partners, donors, and government authorities, and works closely with Action Against Hunger’s regional office (HEARO) in sharing evidence-based input for advocacy efforts at regional and headquarter levels.

Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences/Development studies or other related field. Additional training/qualification in Law, Human rights, or international relations is preferred.
• At least 4 years’ work experience in an Advocacy role in a busy/reputable organization.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience managing big projects/grants in reputable organisation.
• Strong understanding of current lobbying and policy development landscape. Knowledge of the charity landscape and the current challenges being faced by charities and NGO’s in Uganda.
• Experience in successful policy and advocacy work, preferably in international development, with preference for those that have professional experience working in Africa.
• Proven track record drafting and contributing to a range of products (presenta- tions, internal briefing notes, policy briefs, op-eds).
• Recognized capacity in translating complex information in a compelling and accessible way for non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and advocating for gender equality and child/human rights policies.
• Demonstrated ability to develop analytical evidence-based policy papers and reports.
• Excellent English language skills.
• Ability to provide or recommend solutions to problems; show flexibility to as- sume additional responsibilities
• Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, including ability to find, absorb, analyze and prioritize information from many different sources, and proven experience of strategy development.
• Outstanding interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, including the presence to deal effectively with diverse constituencies including senior management
• Initiative in thought leadership, innovation and creativity.
• Ability to work and contribute positively in a team.
