Job Summary: The Trade Finance Officer will be responsible for handling customer instructions for the various trade products and ensure that they are properly executed and then processed in a timely manner without unnecessary delays.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Take charge of client requests including bookings, disbursements and recoveries for the trade finance products i.e. Letter of Credit, Guarantees, Import Loans, IBCs and Certificate Discounting.
- Monitoring of accounts for inflows in relation to the products that a client may have utilized.
- Maintain MIS reports for utilization, disbursement and due payments which are to be shared on a weekly basis with Relationship Managers
- Ensure the customers are advised on their documents that are ready for collection in a timely manner.
- Deal with customer queries regarding trade finance products and services
- Cross sell to the clients that one interfaces on the other products that the bank may be able to offer.
- Ensure safe custody of customer documents and advice.
- Review and monitor income collection accounts and ensure no income leakages on trade finance deals.
- Collect customer information on service performance for Relationship Managers on the volume and income of the transactions.
- Carry out any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Banking, Marketing or a related field
- Professional or post-graduate qualifications in Finance or Marketing or related fields are added advantage
- Five years of experience in Financial Business Development, with exposure to Operations
- Strong track record in Direct Selling, Sales Management and Relationship Management
- Grasp of the Bank’s Policies, Processes and Procedures relating to Business, Operations, Credit and Business
- Knowledge of the Bank’s business model, its strategy and all of its products and services
- Knowledge and interpretation of industrial and national economic trends
