Job Summary:   IRC is seeking to recruit Team Up Facilitators for PlayMatters project to carry out Team Up session activities in schools and community clustered group with children to help them build their resilience. The Facilitator will be supervised by the Play Matters Education officer in partnership with School leadership and Manager. S/he will also be expected to work in collaboration with the school management committees, school leaders, peers and education implementing partners.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, facilitate, and assess weekly Team-up sessions with different group children.
  • Develop weekly/lesson plans for team Up sessions and classroom in consultation with the class teacher and head teacher.
  • Support in collection of data and lessons learned.
  • Support pupil participation in co – curricula activities and link the school to the community.
  • Contribute to supervision of learners to ensure adherence to SOP.
  • Participate in parents and community awareness sessions.
  • Support distribution, replenishment and reconciliation of materials distributed to school.
  • Participate in training, mentoring and coaching activities.
  • Guide and counsel pupils on a range of challenges faced both at school and home.
  • Prepare and submit periodic and activity reports.
  • Support to promote child safeguarding policy of the consortium as well as school rules and regulations.
  • Identify and refer children needing additional support to the relevant partners.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Certificate of A ‘level and O’ Level or an equivalent a MUST
  • Willing to work with refugee community in promoting access to education.
  • Ability to understand, speak and write English and at least one of the following languages in the Refugee Settlement: Kiswahili, and Kinyabwisha
  • Basic understanding of refugee situation and able to live within the refugee communities.
  • A retired teacher is added advantage.
  • Must be a team player and able to work in multiethnic environment.
  • Must be able to listen and respect authority.
  • Must be hardworking and disciplinarian with skills to control large classes.
  • High integrity personnel to control the teaching materials available.
