Job Title: Senior Lead Agency Coordinator

Reports to: Manager Environment Planning and Coordination
About US:
The National Environment Management Authority (hereinafter called “NEMA”) was established under the National Environment Act, Cap.153 in May 1995 and continued under the National Environment Act No.5 of 2019 as the principal agency for environment management in Uganda charged with regulating, supervising and coordinating all activities relating to the environment.
Job Summary: The Senior Lead Agency Coordinator will support Lead Agency Coordination in Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support development and implementation of division Work Plans, Budgets and timely reporting
- Establish an effective and functional Lead Agency Coordination Framework
- Develop and Implement a Performance Management Scheme for Lead Agencies on Environment Planning, Management and Reporting
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure that all matters relevant to Environment Lead Agency Coordination are mainstreamed
- Support and promote applied research on best practices on Environment Stakeholder coordination
- Support the development and implementation of the National Environment Management Plan.
- Support development and implementation of Local Governments and Urban Authorities’ Environment Action Plans
- Support preparation of the State of Environment Reports for Uganda
- Support public awareness and education about Environment Lead Agency Coordination
- Supervise and appraise staff
- Perform any other official duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold an Honors Bachelor of Science Degree in the relevant field of Environment and Natural Resources Management or Development Studies
- A Master’s Degree in a relevant field of Environment and Natural Resources Management or Development Studies
- Three years of relevant professional working experience in Environment Planning and Coordination in a reputable organization.
- Excellent scientific analytical skills
- Strategic planning knowledge and skills
- Conservation planning knowledge and skills
- Knowledge of green development and cleaner production
- Leadership, team building and supervision skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills
- Good understanding of mitigation hierarchy
- Financial and Human Resource management skills
- Excellent scholarly writing, publication and presentation skills
- Resource Mobilization skills
- Risk Management skills
- Command of excellent Information Communication Technology skills
