Kikagati Power Company Limited (KPCL) operates a 14MW hydropower plant on the Kagera river that marks the border between the Republic of Uganda and United Republic of Tanzania.
Job Summary: The Company seeks to recruit a qualified Graduate Engineer Trainee. The main objective of the trainee is to learn about power generation in general and Kikagati Hydro in particular. After receiving the proper training, the trainee is expected to have learnt about:
- Familiarization with the power generation industry
- Deep knowledge of general hydropower operation and maintenance.
- Start and stop sequence of units – SCADA
- Raise and reduction of generation – SCADA
- Alarms identification and how to start investigation
- Operational incidences reporting
- Operational routines
- Familiarization of Historian database
- Routine maintenance activities:
- Maintenance and monitoring of Civil structures
- Cleaning of cooling water filters
- Maintenance of workshop tools and equipment
- Maintenance of electrical panels
- Cleaning of trash racks
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
- One year of experience in an engineering environment.
