Job Purpose: The Accountant ensures that all accounting / reporting regulations are aimed at timely (tax filings, yearly audit, etc.) and within the Group’s guidelines. You will be the main contact person for dealings with the URA and other tax queries.
Key Responsibilities
Tax filings (PAYE-NSSF – WHT – VAT-CIT)
• Propose solutions for all tax queries and be the main contact person for dealings with the URA
• Bank payments
• Payroll review
• Prepare timely and accurate statutory company accounts including balance sheets annually+ co-ordinate with the external auditor.
• Ensure completeness, accuracy and reliability of some monthly closing activities
• Review and constantly improve the organization’s internal control systems & procedures
Key Performance Measures
• Ensure accurate and on time tax filings
• Support URA team on monthly audit for VAT refund.
• URA tax ledgers are accurate
• Handling tax questions effectively
• All payments are accurate and on time
• Bank transactions are captured properly in ERP system (Navision)
• Ensure accurate and on time payment of all employee salaries and terminal benefits
• Ensure accurate registration in ERP system
• Financial statements are signed off timely of the next month.
• Monthly closing is completed by work day 4 without material adjustments.
• Update financial procedures that leads to an improved way of working
• Other tasks depending on the need and interest (e.g. financial reporting, digitalization of processes, …)
Work Environment/Condition:
• The position is office based, in Namaiba (near Mukono). Required to live in Seeta or closer. Being part of a young & dynamic team that works according to the principles of freedom & responsibility.

Job requirement:
• Minimum work experience of 2 years in a similar role.
• The ideal candidate should possess a university degree from a recognized university preferably B.Com (Finance), BBA (Finance).
• Membership in a professional body such as ACCA, CPA or CIMA is recommendable Proven-hands-on-work experience as an Accountant
• Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills
• Excellent computer skills (Ms. Excel)
• Excellent communication / interpersonal skills and a high level of service orientation
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• High integrity and ethical standards
• Good planning and organizational skills like ability to make priorities
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Living already in Mukono area is an added advantage
Remuneration and other added benefits: Gross salary between 2M to 3M ugx with benefits
