Job Purpose
1. The role holder will be a product manager for home loans with accountability for developing marketing plans to improve home loans service and generate high sales volume. He/she will oversee activities such as the concept design, research activities, and sales goals of the home loans products & service.
2. In this position, the product manager will work with individuals from across the personal banking services to identify and define target market segments, market requirements, key business strategies and the competitive environment for HFB’s niche portfolio.
Key Result Areas
1. In coordination with the personal banking unit, He/she will be responsible for managing the existing product portfolio in areas of product’s risk, sales, training, reporting, incentive, and marketing and for alignment to the bank’s strategy and vision/ mission.
2. Monitor market trends and information collected by the Bank to identify potential areas for the development of new financial products, and the restructuring of existing products.
Stay on top of market trends, product positioning, successes and competition and recommend appropriate actions for HFB’s niche based on analysis.
4. Provide regular feedback on product requirements for local markets, including product specifications functionality, pricing, and translation needs.
5. Prepare and execute product launches and report on expectations of market size, market uptake, market share and expected budgeted sales.
6. Define product promotion and positioning for defined segments.
7. Apply broad base of knowledge pertaining to community development, banking, neighbourhood revitalization, and under-banked markets to think critically and recommend potential routes of action.
Produce financial analyses, projections, and pro-forma based on these proposed solutions.
9. Use statistical methods and applications to analyse customer applications and make concrete recommendations regarding underwriting guidelines and product design at the Bank.
10. Analyse, support both category, and cluster marketing plans to align with brand strategy and achieve annual operating plan goals.
Define customer segmentation and target groups.
12. Assess customer needs and requirements for defined segments and target
13. Adhere to current compliance and service standards of performance.
14. Perform any other duties as assigned.
Financial Responsibility
1. Responsible for the Home lending financial targets as will be agreed, from time to time, using different parameters esp. on customer numbers, Liabilities, Assets and revenue growth.
2. Responsible for controlling costs to within agreed budget.
Person Specifications
Education & Training
1. A degree in banking, Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, management or any relevant field.
2. Possession of a Certified banking qualification or master’s degree in a relevant field would be an added advantage.
Relevant Practical training in banking product management.
Skills & Experience
4. A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a Banking, of which 2 must be in a supervisory role.
5. This position requires a highly self-directed with independent judgment individual who is passionate about the fields of community development and banking.
Must have critical thinking, analytical, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
7. Must have an in-depth understanding about banking product features, pricing, benefits, positioning, design and promotions.
8. Highly organized and self-directed.
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
10. Proven ability to demonstrate and coach exceptional customer service.
