Position Summary
The Group Accounting and Compliance Manager will work with the Group CFO and be responsible for
the Group’s audit, accounting and compliance processes.
Responsibilities
• Working closely with the Group CFO and country-level finance teams to ensure that financial systems, controls, and reporting processes meet group policy and standards.
Preparation of annual consolidation pack and financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Act as the key liaison for external auditors, overseeing 9 statutory audit processes with country finance teams
• Develop and implement standardized group accounting policies and report templates across subsidiaries streamline and strengthen internal reporting and processes including group accounting policy and finance manual.
• Ensure compliance with all IFRS guidelines in local and group reporting including coordination of adoption of new IFRS and other accounting standards and interpretation thereof for proper accounting.
• Preparation of loan/shareholder compliance reports regarding financial and other covenants including development and implementation of the Group’s compliance matrix.
• Review of group wide GL reconciliations and ensure key items are investigated and addressed appropriately and regular monitoring and review of all GLs for accuracy and appropriateness of business transactions recorded across the group
• Oversee compliance and implementation for group businesses, and lead the first line of defense, on policies and remediation of operational risks.
• Oversee tax compliance by implementing a tax register across all companies and implementing a monitoring process to address key tax issues.
• Assist in the preparation of board, audit committee and investor materials
• Support financial advisors in gathering required DD materials as needed
Qualifications
• Passionate about positively impacting smallholder farmers and customers in rural
Africa.
• Qualified Accountant with CPA (K)/ACCA/CIMA/ACA or equivalent with an honors degree from a recognized university.
• Knowledge of Xero, DEAR and Microsoft Dynamics is preferable
• 5-7 years of accounting experience in an international company or senior manager experience in the big four audit firms.
• Preparation of statutory accounts for over a period of at least 3 years and hands-on experience in Group consolidation.
• Experience preparing information in Word and PowerPoint.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
