Job Title:    Administrative Officer (Fresher Jobs)

Reports to: Senior Human Resource Officer

 

About US:

The National Building Review Board is a government agency under the Ministry of Works and Transport established by the Building Control Act, 2013. The Board is mandated to monitor building developments; ensure that the design and construction of buildings and utilities to which the public is to have access cater for persons with disabilities; oversee, inspect and monitor the operations of Building Committees; hear and determine appeals from persons dissatisfied with the decisions of a Building Committee; and to determine the fees to be charged by urban and district building committees for approval of plans, issue of building permits and occupation permits.

 

Job Summary:   The Administrative Officer will provide overall administrative support for the effective and efficient performance of the Board Secretariat.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining and updating the Directorate/Department activity log and following up with the relevant responsible office for implementation in line with the departmental guidelines;
  • Assisting in the scheduling and planning of meetings on advice of the supervisor
  • Taking the minutes meetings of the directorate and department
  • Setting up and maintaining the Department’s filing system in line with the applicable guidelines
  • Ensuring timeliness, cleanliness and tidiness of the office, safe custody, security and confidentiality of official information and documents in the directorate and department
  • Preparing departmental expense reports and office budgets.
  • Managing the fleet and supporting the staff transport management function
  • Any other duty as may be assigned by mandated authority

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold an Honors Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Social Work and Social Administration or Business Administration/Business Studies (Management option) or Bachelor of Management Sciences, or any Management field from a recognized University or Institution of higher learning.
  • Two years of experience in administrative duties gained at officer level in a public or reputable organization.
