About US:
Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited (UEGCL) is a Public Limited Liability Company incorporated in March 2001 under the companies Act (Cap 110), the Laws of Uganda and in conformity with the Electricity Act, 199 UEGCL started operation on 1st April 2001 and is wholly owned by the Government of the Republic of Uganda, with the head office located in Kampala. The mandate of UEGCL is to establish, acquire, maintain and operate electricity generation facilities as well as promote Research and Development in the Electricity generation sector while running the company on sound business principals.
Job Summary: The Security Officer is responsible for the effective and efficient management of the Security matters of Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise the outsourced security service provider
- Ensuring the protection of UEGCL property, people and assets
- Creating a safe and comfortable working environment for employees and visitors
- Responding to Emergency situations as they arise
- Accurately reporting all incidents to senior managers
- Preventing and detecting offences on site
- Supervising all security activities on the plant including Monitoring and operating CCTV cameras and other recording systems to identify disruptions or unlawful acts.
- Conducting searches or personnel, vehicles, and bags etc.
- Monitor and authorize entrance of vehicles or people in the property.
- Secure all exits, doors, and windows after end of operations.
- Develop and implement a security plan, strategy, and protocol.
- Undertaking investigations into reports of offences
- Liaising with the emergency services, police, ambulance and fire service to resolve issues and maintain security and service.
- Producing written reports on security issues in UEGCL.
- Conducting regular security meetings with security officials deployed at the plant and staff.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor of Law or any degree related to security.
- Cadet Course Training
- Certification in a security related area is an added advantage.
- An experience of at least seven years in similar organizations, police, or any security firm of high reputation.
- Proven experience in security systems, infrastructure, and processes
- Good observation and surveillance skills
- Good understanding of legal guidelines for plant/corporate security and public safety
- Data analytics/ ICT skills
- Tech-savvy with experience in surveillance systems
- Fully aware of arrest and restraint techniques.
- Aware of health and safety issues
- Dealing with people politely but in a firm manner
- Computer literate, able to use MS Office and visitor management systems.
- Having a professional approach to all routine tasks.
- Experience of monitoring and controlling security equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
- Risk Assessment Skills
- Report Writing skills.
- Resuscitation Training
- First aid certificate
