Job Summary: The Head, Finance & Value Management, SUHL will manage and coordinate the SUHL capability to deliver an operationally efficient, resilient, and profitable business, a smooth functioning office and a positive employee and client experience. To take accountability for development, translation and implementation of the business and finance strategy. To provide leadership, vision, and direction to the finance team. To ensure the effective implementation and continuity of full financial management services. To construct and drive the development and implementation of processes, systems and controls in the finance area through the finance team and across SUHL and the subsidiaries.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To ensure proper execution of all matters relating to the operation of the finance unit including financial reporting, financial controls & hygiene, payments, and overall financial discipline.
- To support with strategy setting and monitoring across the Subsidiaries to ensure business success.
- Using financial insights to partner with subsidiaries to improve business performance.
- Preparation of statutory financial and regulatory reports
- Management of the taxation affairs of SUHL
Integrity of Financial reporting and Controls
- Ensuring that all internal and external reporting requirements are timeously met, including preparation of monthly and quarterly accounts, Group Accounts and Statutory Annual Financial Statements
- Monitoring all Balance sheet and Income Statement account movements and ensuring that they reflect the correct balances and all relevant account reconciliations are performed and corrective actions taken timeously.
Strategy, business analysis and insights
- To support the CE in setting the Stanbic Holdings Uganda strategy and monitoring its execution
- Provide reliable management reports to SHUL EXCO and Regional Managing Director to enable them to meaningfully take improve performance.
- Capital management and ROE enhancement
- Support the subsidiaries in reviewing current and forecasting future capital requirements.
- Provide reviews and analyses on optimising the capital deployed.
- Modelling and scenario planning to ensure subsidiaries do Breakeven or improve ROE.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Business Degree (Accounting/Finance).
- ACCA, CPA or similar
- At least four years of post-qualification experience.
- Strategic planning and management experience
- In depth understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Computer literacy and knowledge of personal computers and software packages such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access. Working knowledge of SAP ERP and Finacle is added advantage.
- Good communication and presentation skills at a senior level
- Experience in change management and can positively lead change
Special skills/Competencies:
- An appreciation and a good understanding of macroeconomics and external factors affecting the business strategies adopted, and market serviced by SHUL.
- Ability to analyse and evaluate data for acceptability and correctness.
- Analytical mind with strong orientation to financial analysis.
- Ability and experience in communicating with all levels of management regarding management information needs.
- Good interpersonal skills required in liaising with people at different levels.
- Willingness to get involved in detail
- Good planning and organisation skills.
- Strong report writing skills.
- Dynamic self-starter with a personal ambition to succeed.
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
- A person with high integrity.
- Excellent computer skills particularly in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Access, Power Point.
