Job Summary: We have an excellent and exciting opportunity for Business Development Executive – Sales & Marketing. We seek to give the opportunity to a candidate who ideally holds professional qualification in Sales & Marketing with an in-depth experience in Shipping and Supply Chain sales. The successful candidate shall be based in Kampala as the point of operation.
The Business Development Executive, is responsible for designing and implementing business development strategies, conducting various marketing research, discovering, and pursuing new business leads, processing, and presenting competitive proposals and maintaining customer satisfaction.
Ultimately, the Business Development Executive helps meet and surpass business expectations and contribute to our company’s rapid and sustainable growth.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Revenue Growth
- 50% sales lead conversion per quarter.
- Ensure proper management of marketing costs within the set budget.
- Ensure an acceptable level of profitability on all business development activities.
- Preparing business development strategies.
- Conducting extensive research to identify selling possibilities and evaluate customer needs.
- Supporting the digital marketing team with content and creativity that meet the market needs.
- Contribute to the preparation of business development budgets.
- Participating in both internal and external exhibitions and conferences on behalf of the company.
- Creating awareness of the products and services offered by the company.
- Set up meetings with potential clients for feedback.
- Prepare and deliver appropriate presentations on products and services.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve better results.
- Gather feedback from customers or prospects and share with internal respective departments for review and mitigation.
- Be involved in 3PL business development.
Account Management (Customer Relationship Management)
- Proactively manage relationship with new customers.
- Maintain up-to date and accurate profiles of customers i.e., contact persons, key business, opportunities, suppliers, polices etc. in relation the client.
- Sensitize customers on service offering.
- Works on customer initiatives and implements solutions as per customer requirements.
- Pursue opportunities for portfolio customer growth and new business with allocated accounts.
- Customer retention: Develop a customer engagement cycle through a structured sales process to ensure customer development and retention.
- Use CRM (Customer Relationship Management), to update customer activities.
- Respond to customer complaints, compliments, and inquiries within 24hrs.
- Maintaining a healthy relationship with the clients.
- Responding to client’s enquiries in a professional manner.
- Handling customer complaints.
- Timely customer reports.
- Conducting extensive research on competitors’ products and services. (Benchmark services offered).
- Create frequent reviews and reports with sales and financial data.
Marketing Activities
- Participate in trade shows, fairs, and promotions.
- Arrange customer workshops to ensure ESL brand is reinforced with customers.
- Maintains up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments that affect target markets.
- Actively participate in customer satisfaction surveys.
General
- Any other assignment or any other duty as deemed necessary from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a degree in Sales & Marketing, Commerce, or relevant degree.
- EACFFPC certificate is an added advantage.
- Experience in 3PL an added advantage.
- Professional certification by UMS.
- Member of UMS.
- Proficient in computer application packages.
- At least three years of progressive experience in a busy Sales & Marketing environment (preferably in the logistics sector).
- Demonstrate excellent knowledge of various marketing tactics.
- Understanding and knowledge of Customer Relationship Management Software.
- Proficiency in MS Office Tools.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Analytical and with problem solving skills.
- Proactive and a result-driven and organized individual.
- Outstanding project management skills.
- Demonstrate excellent leadership skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Good negotiation and sales skills.
