Aga Khan University has established four medical centres in Kampala, with the first opening in 2012. They offer consultations and referrals to specialist services. The Aga Khan University Hospital in Kampala is currently under construction.
Job Summary: Reporting to the System Administrator, the ICT Support Engineer will be responsible for managing and maintaining our computer systems, servers, and network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing and troubleshooting complex systems, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install and maintain servers, desktop computers, printers, and other hardware.
- Perform software installations, upgrades, and patches on servers and client devices.
- Monitor system performance and proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
- Configure and manage virtualization environments, including VMware and Hyper-V.
- Create and maintain documentation on systems, processes, and procedures.
- Provide end-user support for hardware and software issues.
- Participate in the planning, design, and implementation of new systems and services.
- Collaborate with other IT team members to maintain a secure and stable computing environment.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Added Advantages: MCSE/A, CCNA, N+, A+
- Two years of working experience in systems administration, network administration, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Understanding of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
- Experience with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Good interpersonal relations and good telephone handling skills
- Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks
