Social/Communication Officer – Electrical Power lines Lafab Solutions

We are currently seeking a knowledgeable and dedicated Environmental Officer to join our team. As an Environmental Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and promoting sustainable practices within our organization. Your expertise in environmental studies and regulatory requirements will be instrumental in managing and implementing environmental programs and initiatives.

Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement environmental management plans and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
• Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIAs) to evaluate the potential environmental effects of projects and propose mitigation measures.
• Monitor and assess compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and licenses.
• Identify and evaluate environmental risks and hazards associated with operations and develop strategies for their mitigation.
• Provide guidance and support to project teams on environmental matters, ensuring the integration of environmental considerations into project planning and design.
• Conduct environmental audits and inspections to identify areas of non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
• Monitor and report on key environmental performance indicators, such as air and water quality, waste management, and energy consumption.
• Develop and deliver environmental training programs to raise awareness and promote a culture of environmental responsibility among employees.
• Collaborate with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, local communities, and non-governmental organizations, to ensure effective communication and engagement on environmental matters.
• Stay up to date with relevant environmental regulations, industry trends, and emerging best practices, and propose and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies or equivalent.
• Holder of a valid NEMA (National Environmental Management Authority) practicing license.

Skills and Competencies:
• Strong knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and standards.
• Experience in conducting environmental impact assessments and developing environmental management plans.
• Familiarity with environmental monitoring techniques and data analysis.
• Understanding of environmental risk assessment and management principles.
• Proficiency in interpreting and applying environmental regulations to various projects and operations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to propose effective and practical solutions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders at various levels.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in collecting and analyzing environmental data.
• Proficiency in relevant software applications and tools for environmental management and reporting.
