Job Summary
Supervise the fleet repair services providing skilled mechanical work in diagnosing, managing the teams of 25 plus technicians for repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicles, motorcycles, generators, and reefer containers, preventive maintenance duties, scheduling daily work priorities, maintaining records of job cards issued for each vehicle, and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Job Responsibilities
• Allocation of daily tasks to the teams.
• Providing daily garage and vehicles status reports.
• Creating and maintaining service and maintenance schedules for the fleet.
• Perform skilled mechanic duties including troubleshooting, and diagnosing the vehicles of the fleet.
• Inspect, diagnose, and oversee the teams of technicians performing repairs and adjustments over a variety of systems on vehicles, including fuel injection systems, brake systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, air pressure systems, transmissions, steering and suspension components, clutches, and engines.
• For each vehicle entering the garage, issue the job cards, acknowledge, verify, and confirm the problems declared by the drivers, and determine the extent of necessary repairs as well as perform routine preventive maintenance.
• Estimate time, materials, and equipment required for jobs assigned to each team/vehicle inside the garage.
• In case of any B/D, designate the right technician/s to be dispatched for rescue, estimate time, materials, equipment, and spare parts required for completing the jobs in the fastest way possible.
• Assisting in identifying the specifications for automotive spare parts and equipment as support for the procurement and inventory departments.
• Performing safety inspections on all vehicles and ensuring all repairs have been completed.
• Maintaining and keeping a written work history( job cards) for each vehicle and asset of the company.
• Ensuring all safety procedures are being adhered to by the team.
• Ensuring time sheets and proper leave plans are being submitted on time for the mechanical team.
• Providing monthly mechanical reports for work done by the mechanical team to the supervisor

Knowledge and Experience
• A minimum of a Diploma in Motor Vehicle Mechanics/ Engineering from a reputable institution.
• Must have an ordinary-level certificate (Uganda Certificate of Education)
• A valid driving license for vehicles (B) with a clean driving record is required.
• At least ten (10) years of experience in commercial and light vehicle repair that includes mechanical and electrical from a reputable organization.
• At least five (5) years experience in managing large teams of technicians (20+ persons) working on a garage of commercial and light vehicle repair that includes mechanics, electricians, welders, panel beaters, and painters from a reputable organization.
• Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of how vehicles work and how various parts of the vehicle interact with each other.
• Ability to deliver accurate results promptly and in an environment with multiple and challenging tasks.
• Good knowledge of traffic rules and regulations.
• Good knowledge of Office package.
• Good at writing reports on a daily basis.
• Knowledge of diagnosis and repair in the field of hydraulic systems, air pressure systems, and/or HVAC will be an advantage.
