About Internship Program:
The Global Green Growth Institute internship program (also called “Grow Green” Program) provides a unique learning opportunity for students and recent graduates from diverse academic backgrounds. The program is designed for talented and motivated individuals skilled in areas relevant to GGGI’s operations. The program allows selected candidates to gain insight into the work of the Institute and provides assistance and training in various professional fields in a multicultural environment. We encourage qualified women and men, in particular, nationals of developing countries, with diverse professional, academic, and cultural backgrounds to apply.
Job Summary: We are looking for a talented individual to work with us in the Africa Regional Office based in Kampala Uganda to provide operational support to the Forestry and Nature-based Solutions activities of the Uganda Country Program and Africa Regional Office.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Stakeholder Analysis within the relevant Forestry-related sectors as agreed upon at the start of the assignment. This includes private sector players, financial institutions and civil society.
- Project Analysis – Analysis of relevant government- and ODA-funded programmes and projects and their geographic distributions in GGGI Africa member countries.
- Environmental, geographic and socio-economic information on biodiversity, deforestation and land degradation hotspots.
- Compile data from relevant projects and develop a document that shows key lessons learned in agroforestry, forest protection and restoration, and Payments for Ecosystem Services, et.
- Support the Africa Regional team during relevant events, meetings and workshops.
- Support project design, development and implementation where relevant.
- Provide other support when requested.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in Forestry, Natural Resources management, Botanical Sciences, Sustainable Landscapes or Environmental Management field, or another relevant field
- Be enrolled in a Master’s or PhD program prior to internship assignment, or a recent graduate within the last 12 months.
- Be engaged or recently engaged in academic study in a field directly related to the Institute’s work.
- Possess an excellent command of English.
- Proven, strong academic and research track record
- Knowledge and understanding of sustainable development issues
- Experience in gathering, analysing and reporting data
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented with good organizational skills
- Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office and active usage of various social media is an advantage
- Proven analytical and report writing skills are advantageous.
Duration: The internship program is for six months.
Stipend: GGGI interns receive a monthly stipend of USD $500 per month. All costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns themselves or sponsoring institutions.
