The Disability and Inclusion Advisor will manage the strategic development, implementation and successful delivery of disability and inclusion outcomes under the Youth Empowerment, Entrepreneurship and Decent Employment (YEEDE) project, supporting overall VSO’s inclusion footprint in Uganda.
The Disability and Inclusion Adviser will:
• In coordination with YEEDE project team, implementing partner, KCCA and Wakiso district, and other disability networks, coordinate training plans, develop inclusive training content and training materials with focus on inclusion.
• Work closely with the VSO-Uganda team and YEEDE project colleagues and implementing partners in developing effective and efficient systems and procedures in the area of supporting persons with disability and make recommendations for continual service improvements.
• Act as a point of contact for persons with disability, ensure support requirements are understood and embedded in, VSLA group activities, vocational training, disseminated to community, colleagues and adjustments are in place where necessary.
• Support disability assessments in close collaboration with implementing partners, recommend assistive devises to aid training outcomes for persons with disability
• Conduct oversight role to implementing partners, training centres and other engagements with persons with disability, youth and women to ensure safety measures is adhered to.
• Facilitate improvements in inclusion for persons with disability, provide technical back stopping to project teams, partners to ensure delivery is rights based and engagements is up to date with national and international standards.
• Facilitate community dialogues on the value of inclusion, role of community in supporting inclusion for persons with disability.
• Together with the rest of the project team, participate in project monitoring, review, evaluation and dissemination of learning and success stories focussing on inclusion of persons with disability.
• In coordination with the project team, participate in the development of project quarterly work plans, reports and documentation of learnings.
• Any other duties of a similar nature and level of responsibility as maybe required.

Essential:
Knowledge/qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Special Needs, adult education, social sciences and social works or related discipline
• Knowledge and understanding of inclusive livelihoods, and rights-based approaches
Experience:
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the field of quality and inclusive livelihoods especially working at a disability and inclusive role.
• Experience working with Persons with disability, youth and women community and national levels is required.
• Previous experience implementing employability projects will be an added advantage
