General Manager Cycling out of Poverty Foundation

Cycling out of Poverty Foundation (CooP-Uganda) supports students, health volunteers, farmers and small entrepreneurs with bicycles to improve access to basic needs and services like education, health care, work and income. We believe that a bicycle makes a difference in this world and is a huge contributor to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. Our mission is to improve livelihood of Ugandan families by making bicycles and other mobility aids (such as wheelchairs, bicycle ambulances and cargo bikes) accessible and available for everyone in Uganda.

For our office in Jinja, we are currently looking to recruit an energetic, charismatic, positive, resilient and detail-oriented individual to fill the role of General Manager. The General Manager is providing overall leadership to the CooP-Uganda team in articulating, implementing and monitoring the vision, strategy and programs/interventions of the organisation, as well as being responsible for CooPUganda’s financial wellbeing and administration. We are looking for a generalist who has experience in: – Strategic planning, monitoring and reporting; – Finance and Accounting; – Human Resource management; – PR, marketing, communication and relation management; – Managing daily operations; – Fundraising and resource mobilisation.

The applicant must be/have:
• A visionary leader with a seniority charisma, confident public speaker and a people manager.
• Education to degree level or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of five years of paid management experience.
• Proven skills in social business, financial and HR management (including staff supervision).
• A minimum of three years of experience working with a board of directors and committees.
• Excellent, proven interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills.
• Proven ability to cope with conflict, stress and crisis situations, with effective problem-solving and mediation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to share skills and knowledge with others.
• Proficiency with office computer equipment and software, including QuickBooks.
• Demonstrated ability to multitask and work in a fast paced office setting.
• A passion for cycling and conservation; must be able to ride a bicycle.
• Experience in Tourism, and/or Engineering is an added benefit.
